A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CARA
There are an estimated 14,000 animal rescues in the US that take in nearly 8 MILLION animals a year. Many if not most rely solely on donations from their community. What if crafters and artisans could band together and help rescues, shelters and rehabbers in our own backyard?
That is the philosophy behind Crafters & Artisans for Rescued Animals.
Inspired by the craft movement for Australia, Crafters & Artisans for Rescued Animals (CARA) was created to keep the movement going, but this time to benefit rescues, shelters and rehabbers within the US and Canada. Our goal is to assist rescues with crafted items tailored directly to their needs and connect rescuers and crafters all over the world.
CARA is not a wildlife or domestic rescue. If you are experiencing a wildlife emergency please visit animalhelpnow.com to find a licensed rehabber in your area.
CARA is proud to be part of the Safe Spaces Alliance
Crafters and Artisans for Rescued Animals (501c3 non-profit) is a collective group of crafters from across the US who are dedicated to creating handmade custom products that we donate to animal rescues to assist with the rehabilitation of the animals in their care.
While our day to day mission is to assist animals and the humans caring for them we are firm believers that animal
rights/ activism goes hand-in-hand with human
rights/activism. We stand by and support our BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community.
Our organization is run by a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and we are determined to offer a safe-space
both in our shop at Viaport Rotterdam and online in any of our forums, free discrimination or fear; a space, free of bullying and harassment of any kind where all people regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race or religion are accepted and respected. Harassment is not tolerated.
CARA will take action against anyone who engages in behavior that is deemed a violation of this policy.
We encourage any member to notify a member of our administrative team immediately if they witness a harassment situation. Privacy is of utmost importance to us. Any reports of harassment will be treated as anonymous and your name will not be included in any communication with the offending parties unless specifically requested.
CARA will always be an advocate for both our fellow human, and the animals.
